The ILAP project aims to develop a more coordinated, qualified and systematic approach to legal aid in Türkiye and to facilitate access to justice. It does this by improving coordination between legal aid service providers (the Turkish Bar Association, bar associations and lawyers), women's associations and civil society, developing mechanisms to fill gaps in the development of networks, and increasing the capacity of lawyers through online training.
The ILAP project has established Victim Support Centres in 7 pilot provinces to help women victims of violence access justice. Thanks to these centres, women can receive free legal advice and support from lawyers who have received special training on violence.
The ILAP project is implemented by UNDP, the Ministry of Justice and the Turkish Bar Association with the support of SIDA - Swedish International Development and Cooperation Agency.
